Company Philosophy
Our goal is to provide a safe and memorable experience for all who join us as we venture into the great outdoors, to practice minimal impact camping, and to educate others in the ways of the river and it's ecosystem.

Don Greene
Founder, President
Don has been involved in outdoor education and preservation for 30 years, and has been a professional guide and outfitter since 1975. He is an American Red Cross canoeing instructor, Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and Swiftwater Rescue Technician. His guests on the river have included CEOs and celebrities, politicians and photographers, Texas Governor Ann Richards, and even the Olympic Flame. A member of the Rivers Advisory Board for Texas Parks and Wildlife, Don was responsible for designing Colorado River Trail for the LCRA. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including:
  • The Freedoms Foundation's George Washington Honor Medal for Excellence in Outdoor Education
  • The President's Outdoor Recreation Award
  • The Jesse L. Walls Conservation Award
  • The Sierra Club Special Service Award
  • The Park People Environmental Award
As a spokesperson for water safety and river protection, he has been featured in The Christian Science Monitor, Life magazine, Southern Living, Texas Highways, Texas Parks and Wildlife magazine, The New York Times, Texas Monthly, and multiple sections of The Houston Chronicle and The Houston Post. He has also appeared on Good Morning America and Ray Miller's Texas.

A Houston native, Don earned a BS from Stephen F. Austin State University and did postgraduate work in education at SMU.

River guides and instructors

Each one of our guides are required to pass extensive safety and first aid training from the National Red Cross. Several of our guides are Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). Most importantly however, all of our guides love being with people outdoors.
